SUMMER INCREASE IN TUCSON BED BUG CASES
From KGUN TUCSON
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) – Experts from the University of Arizona say bed bugs are on the rise in the Tucson area.
While Tucson is not among the cities in the country most affected by the pests, more people traveling over the summer along with humid, hot summer temperatures have led to a rise in recent reports here.
Pest control companies in the area say they’re getting five to 10 calls a day to treat bed bug infestations, which is higher than they normally see.Keeping your home dry and cool is the best defense against infestation. Bed bugs thrive in warm, moist environments.
Also, new secondhand purchases should be washed and dried, and travelers should keep luggage outside their bedroom.Regular vacuuming and placing infected items in the dryer also helps.
